Why we send people here

Mod Dog has groomed dogs in Boca Raton since 2006. The salon is in Suite 106 of the two-story building at 600 South Dixie Highway, on the corner of SE 6th Street, just south of downtown. Older listings on Glades Road point to a location that has closed.

Two things they put in writing. No cage dryers are ever used: dogs are dried with clean warm towels after every bath. And the salon owner is present while every service is done.

The menu runs from a spa bath and a supreme bath with face, feet and sanitary trim to a full groom, plus non-anesthetic dental cleaning with the dog awake, teeth brushing, de-shedding, deep conditioning, flea and tick baths and feather extensions. They are honest about de-matting: they will not attempt it on a dog matted down to the skin, an elderly dog or one with a medical condition. An express full groom is offered only as the first appointment of the morning.

Booking is by phone or through the chat on their website, and prices are not published. They are open Tuesday through Friday, eight to four, and closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
